Samir's Critical Corner

I love good writing. Samir's Critical Corner will have reviews on World Literature but you will also find reviews on various subjects like Mathematics or Tai Chi, and on specific niches like Nigerian writers.

Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction February 2009 - Gordon Van Gelder I wasn't impressed by this collection of short stories and a novella. Only the last two short stories - by Mario Milosevic and by Eugene Mirabeli - were interesting enough to complete (hence 2 stars). The stories are all well written and well polished, which is why I bothered to go through them in the first place, but they're also plot based. The problem I have with this is that such stories tend to be sensational, have happy endings, and, often have protagonists that lack depth. Not my thing.
