I love good writing. Samir's Critical Corner will have reviews on World Literature but you will also find reviews on various subjects like Mathematics or Tai Chi, and on specific niches like Nigerian writers.

The Man in the High Castle - Philip K. Dick Not sure what to make of this book. It's not what I expected but then again, the only other book of his I've read is 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep'. At times I found it difficult to follow - who's who again, and what's he after, those kind of questions - yet at other times the prose was smooth and engaging, especially when Dick took the time to let me empathize with a character on my own rather than feel it forced on me.

I'd normally give such a reading experience 3 stars but the story concept was too good 'Germany & Japan are the victors of WWII' and the character of Juliana was awesome, now there's a bad-ass-chick without letting us know it.
